The Game Awards 2022 Will Once Again Be Open To The Public

Producer and host Geoff Keighley has officially announced that The Game Awards 2022 will be open to the public following two years as a purely digital event. The annual industry showcase is used to celebrate the year's greatest games and provide a sneak peek into the exciting future of games. Earlier this year Geoff Keighley announced The Game Awards 2022 would be a very special event, and now the industry icon has revealed why that is.

Since the program's premier back in 2014, The Game Awards has become one of the gaming industry's most-watched shows. To rival other events like Gamescom and Tokyo Game Show, TGA has demonstrated a key understanding of its audience in order to grow over time. Since its inception the yearly showcase has implemented new features like pre-show content, and the distinctly angelic Game Awards statue has become a recognizable emblem of the brand. Community participation has even been added in the form of a Player's Voice Award, which lets gamers have a direct impact on a game's success. Game Awards host Geoff Keighley has been a major part of this success through the role of organizer and producer.

A recent Twitter post from Geoff Keighley announces that The Game Awards 2022 will be open to the public when it airs on December 8. Tickets will go on sale on November 1 and will be available via Microsoft Theater. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic The Game Awards 2020 was streamed virtually, with Keighley presenting from a sound stage, while The Game Awards 2021 was only open to an invited audience. Now the public will once again have a chance to buy a ticket and celebrate the gaming industry by watching TGA 2022 live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

The Game Awards 2022 Will Have An Excited Audience

While seeing The Game Awards 2022 live is an unforgettable experience, fans can also watch TGA 2022 in IMAX theatres for a more cinematic experience. Like this year's Summer Game Fest, TGA 2022 will be streamed live in IMAX Live cinemas across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. Cinemas will obviously charge viewers for the experience, but tickets to an IMAX showing will surely be much cheaper than tickets to the live Game Awards show in LA.

The Game Awards has become one of the most exciting gaming industry events, but the public has sadly been barred from attending the last two ceremonies. Thankfully, Geoff Keighley has revealed that tickets to attend this year's industry event will soon be sold. Tickets go on sale November 1, so those interested in seeing The Game Awards 2022 live and in-person should prepare to secure a seat.
