Pokémon's Eeveelutions Get Charming Custom Poké Ball Designs

Pokémon's Eeveelutions have received custom Poké Balls created by artist Hyperagua Studios. The Poké Ball and Eevee are both staples of the Pokémon series, with Eevee headlining the Let's Go, Eevee! game and the Poke Ball being one of the most recognizable items from the series. There are over 20 different kinds of Poké Balls that can be used to capture Pokémon at various levels of success depending on which ball is used for a given situation.

The Poké Ball isn’t the only unique item in Pokémon with multiple forms. Eevee is a special species in the series as it has the most evolutions of any currently-known Pokémon. When first introduced Eevee was a Normal-type Pokémon who had three evolutions triggered by exposure to Pokémon evolution stones. Since Eevee’s first appearance in Pokémon, it has expanded to have eight different evolutions spanning a range of different types.

The most recent addition to the custom Poké Ball collection from Hyperagua Studios includes nine Poké Balls themed after each of the current Eeveelutions. Posted by Hyperagua on the Pokémon subreddit, the collection features Eevee at the center with the original three Eeveelutions - Flareon, Jolteon, and Vaporeon - at the top. The latest addition to the Eevee family, Sylveon wraps up the new Poké Balls at the end with their signature bow in the center of the Poké Ball. The Eeveelution Poké Balls are part of a larger collection currently spanning 107 items in an album viewable from the studio’s Facebook page, including a Poké Ball themed after Paldean Wooper from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Hyperagua Studios has created various forms of Pokémon-themed art, from 3D pictures to posters - all of which can be found on their Facebook page.

Creating custom Poké Balls in-game was first introduced in Pokémon Gold and Silver, allowing trainers to use Apricorns to create custom balls. Players were also required to create their own Poké Balls in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, though these were not custom designed and were more out of necessity. Some Poké Balls in Pokémon are more useful than others as many Poké Balls are situational. Hyperagua Studios took a different approach to the customization of Poké Balls and was able to capture each Pokémon’s unique features in the collection, showcasing attention to detail, from the simplicity of fan-favorite Eeveelution Espeon - matching the Pokémon’s sleek look - to the detailed look captured on Lucario’s Poké Ball, matching the details on the Pokémon’s in-game appearance.

While none of the designs created by Hyperagua Studios can be expected to be seen in-game anytime soon, they are charming creations. It would be an interesting addition if Game Freak was to decide to add Pokémon-specific Poké Balls, even if only for the starting Pokémon, as there already exist Poké Balls that possess more aesthetic value than anything else, such as the Premier Ball. Fans may never have these works of art in-game, but they are charming creations that help bring the Pokémon series to life.
