God Of War's Leviathan Axe Turned Into Beautiful Lightsaber Hilt By Fan

The Leviathan Axe is already a powerful and majestic weapon in God of War, and one fan has taken things a step further by reimagining it as a lightsaber hilt from Star Wars. In 2018’s God of War reboot, an older and more battle-weary Kratos trades his signature Blades of Chaos for this mighty axe, which was forged by the same Dwarven brothers who created the God of War version of Thor’s Mjölnir and contains the power of ice. This new, slower weapon reflected God of War (2018)’s more methodical combat, as well as Kratos’s calmer personality, and quickly became a popular addition to the franchise thanks to the weight and power that came each time it was thrown and magically called back.

Naturally, many God of War fans have crafted their own replica versions of the Leviathan Axe, even going as far as to add glowing runes that recreate the mystical energy that flows from the blade and its legendary wielder to give it an extra authentic feel. Others have brought the Leviathan Axe into games like The Witcher 3 through mods, allowing Geralt of Rivera to slay monsters and bandits alike with the same weapon Kratos uses to carve a path across the Nine Realms of Asgard alongside his young son Atreus. Now, one talented fan has reimagined Kratos’s powerful Leviathan Axe as an elegant weapon from a more civilized age - one that is no less capable of cutting down enemies that dare threaten its user.

Reddit user Exciting-Form4234, who has recently started their own business devoted to creating custom Star Wars lightsaber hilts, recently shared their rendition of a lightsaber modeled after Kratos’s Leviathan Axe from God of War on the r/GodofWar subreddit. This impressive lightsaber hilt captures the wooden handle and golden trim of the Leviathan Axe through its brown and gold coloring, with gemstones like the kind Kratos uses to upgrade his Leviathan Axe in God of War embedded in the center where the lightsaber’s Kyber crystals typically reside. The blade emitter is stone gray like the blade of the Leviathan Axe, with Nordic runes running along its side. There is even a Greek pattern right below the emitter, a reference to Kratos’s Spartan heritage and dark past as a slayer of the Gods of Olympus.

As much as Kratos would like to leave the violence of this past behind him in favor of a quiet life with Atreus, the former Ghost of Sparta will take up the Leviathan Axe once more in the upcoming God of War Ragnarok - where he and his son will travel the Nine Realms in search of the truth behind an ancient prophecy predicting the end of the world. During this journey, Kratos will finally face off against God of War's brutish rendition of Thor, and many fans have speculated that he will add the legendary Mjölnir to his ever-growing arsenal of weapons.

A lightsaber like the one designed by Exciting-Form4234 would certainly be a welcome addition to this arsenal, as it perfectly captures the look and feel of Kratos’s now-iconic Leviathan Axe from the past two God of War games. While the Ghost of Sparta certainly won’t be wielding a laser sword in his latest and final Nordic adventure, players will no doubt have access to an impressive array of powers and weapons when God of War Ragnarok finally launches this November.
