10 Most Popular The Office Ships, Ranked By Ao3
Along with the workplace hijinks, The Office was so popular because of the relationships between the colorful characters. Some of the romances were part of the show from the very beginning and others seemed doomed to fail immediately. But certain relationships stand out as striking a chord with fans.
Ao3 features a collection of over 1600 works of fanfic dedicated to The Office. While some of these relationships didn't even happen on the show, there was something about the character that made an ideal match for fans. And though the show is over, fans can still imagine their favorite relationships on The Office.SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY
9 Pam Beesly & Karen Filippelli
Pam and Karen seemed destined to be romantic rivals on the show as they were both in love with Jim Halpert. However, there was a time that a friendship seemed to be growing between them as they formed their own party committee and made a great team.
Fans seemed to connect with their chemistry and wished their relationship had been more. It seems unfair that the show tried to paint Karen as a villain in the end, but fans have ignored that and imagined scenarios in which the two women would find happiness together without Jim.
8 Andy Bernard & Oscar Martinez
Unlike many of the other most popular ships, a connection between Andy and Oscar doesn't immediately pop out. But while they didn't spend a lot of time together, one episode showed a good deal of chemistry as Andy tries to be Oscar's wingman.
Fans seemed to like the dynamic that these two shared, showing kindness and honesty with each other. It isn't hard to see that bond grow as fans imagine how these two characters could have hit it off.
7 Jim Halpert & Ryan Howard
It seemed at first as though Jim and Ryan could be friends. They were the young "cool" guys in the office with a sense of humor. But Ryan gradually turned into more of a villain and they even became enemies for a time.
When Ryan was the new boss, he seemed ready to get Jim fired simply because he didn't like him. However, perhaps that tension between them was compelling enough to fans that they felt the relationship could take some other interesting turns.
6 Karen Filippelli & Jim Halpert
As much as Jim and Pam were the central couple for the show, some fans of The Office felt he belonged with someone else. Karen was the love interest that emerged that stood in the way of Jim and Pam, but the show might have made an error in making Karen too likable.
She was funny and a good match for Jim. Some fans of The Office give her too much hate simply for being part of the love triangle, but others seem to feel that she was the better match for Jim all along.
5 Ryan Howard & Kelly Kapoor
As two employees on The Office who should have been fired several times, it's not surprising that Kelly and Ryan are a dysfunctional couple. But sometimes those are the most entertaining. Ryan and Kelly seemed like a bad idea from the beginning as she was swept up in an unrealistic idea of the perfect romance and he seemed largely uninterested.
As the series continued, they seemed continuously drawn to each other despite how toxic it was. Whether fans really thought there was something between them that made sense or they simply thought they were funny together, Kelly and Ryan make for a popular couple.
4 Roy Anderson & Pam Beesly
Before Karen came along, the one standing in the way of Pam and Jim's seemingly perfect union was Roy. As Pam's fiancé, he seemed immature and self-centered, and though he tried to clean himself up to win her back, he still had a lot of issues to work out.
But fans picked up on something charming between Pam and Roy. By the end of the series, he seems to be a changed man with a wife of his own and there are some that might think he was actually the better catch for Pam than Jim was.
3 Angela Martin & Dwight Schrute
Angela and Dwight are another couple who certainly had a toxic relationship at times. Their affair behind Andy's back and their contract to make a baby were all off-putting. But it was hard not to get excited by their wedding in the finale.
Though they could both be terrible people, they also brought out the best in each other. Angela was less rigid and Dwight had some wholesome moments with her. Fans can imagine their secret relationship within the office or their happy life together as husband and wife.
2 Jim Halpert & Dwight Schrute
The pranks on Dwight in The Office make for some of the show's greatest highlights and they are mostly all done at the hands of Jim. They seemed to hate each other from the beginning, but they were always the most fun pair to see together.
They also made a great sales team, they shared unexpected moments of kindness together, and they eventually became best friends. There is a fun aspect to imagining a romance between these two characters but it is also hard to deny the connection.
1 Pam Beesly & Jim Halpert
As one of the most iconic television romances of all time, it is no surprise Jim and Pam are the most popular ship among The Office fans. The early seasons of the will-they-wont-they dynamic pulled audiences in and their eventually relationship managed to be as charming as fans hoped.
While there were some rocky moments in the final season, it feels as though they ultimately emerged as a stronger and more loving couple along with a growing family. It is not hard to see why fans continue to love this romance.
